New York Cities

New York has dozens of cities and towns across 62 counties. Below are the major population centers that have their own death index resources. Each city or town files death records with the local registrar (the city, town, or village clerk). In most cases, death certificates are also on file with the New York State Department of Health. New York City has a separate system through the NYC Municipal Archives and NYC Department of Health.
